"This film was initially written for and dedicated to my late, truly fabulous great-grandmother, Violet Foster (pictured below). But it found its true voice when multiple real-life "Franklins" came forward, having lived similar love stories. Most had come out the other side proudly as the gay men they are — others still struggle. Their stories deepened my commitment to making this film with the care and respect it deserved. It's because of their silent suffering that we are where we are in LGBTQ+ rights. I hope this finds every "Eugene" and "Franklin" out there."
